IN 2012 Writers Room DC was established by a father-son duo who wished to support local writers.
In 2017, WRDC was purchased by author Lauren Francis-Sharma, once a member of WRDC, who has since re-branded it as DC Writers Room. Lauren loves the idea of continuing and expanding upon the work of the previous owners. As a writer, herself, Lauren understands the needs of writers and will work to keep DCWR as accessible and comfortable as possible, so that artists can do the work of creating.
DCWR’s space is designed to provide a professional, respectful, and quiet environment that fosters literary success. Since opening, we have served hundreds of writers who have published countless articles, books, poems, dissertations, stage and screen plays. Here, you won’t hear ringing phones, doorbells, and no one interrupts because they need something. You are here to write. We make this possible.
